Cavan-born John Walsh is a composer of music for Film, Television and Advertising. To date his work has featured in a number of award winning Drama Series and Short Films. He has also scored for several high profile advertising campaigns including the official commercial for the 2008 Olympic Games.
Television campaigns include the Jameson Film Festival commercial featuring hundreds of director chairs rushing to the cinema, the Guinness advert detailing explorer Tom Crean's journey to Antarctica, and campaigns by Dairygold, Bailey's and VHI Healthcare.
Walsh, now based in Dublin, trained as a classical musician and has played in rock bands and worked as a studio producer.
In 2008 John orchestrated the soundtrack to the Olympic Games 2008 commercial. The advert, filmed in the style of a high-paced action film, aired in 26 countries in the run-up to the opening ceremony on August 8. It features athletes such as Roger Federer, Asafa Powell, Carolina Kluft and Paula Radcliffe. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) commissioned Walsh after seeing an advert he did for the Spanish national lottery.
He has also scored the title music for RTE's World Cup, Six Nations and The Premiership programmes.
Film and Drama compositions include the cutting edge crime series 'Proof' which to date has broadcast in over one hundred countries worldwide and the award winning short films 'Prey Alone' and 'Venom'.
