Barbershopera is a comedy barbershop quartet with three guys and a
girl!
They formed
in 2007, started performing standalone songs at OneTaste West in Hammersmith,
had a great time, made some people laugh. They got director Sarah Tipple on
board, and together made the full-length acappella musical Barbershopera! and
took it to the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe, where they won rave reviews and sell-out
audiences, as well as two Musical Theatre Matters Awards (Best New Musical and
Best Lyrics).
The show then toured throughout the UK on a 2009 Rural
Tour.
A new show,
Barbershopera II: In the Mane of the Father, debuted at Edinburgh 2009 (where
the Best Lyrics title was retained) and transferred to London's Trafalgar
Studios in January 2010.
Barbershopera
I has been recorded as an Afternoon Play on Radio 4 (transmitted on May 3rd),
and Barbershopera II toured across the UK in May, June and July
2010. Barbershopera III: Apocalypse No! premiered at Edingurgh 2010 and
was voted Winner of Best Lyrics and Best Book at Musical Theatre Matters Awards
2010! www.myspace.com/barbershopera
