SALLY OLDFIELD

Sally Oldfield’s songs cover a wide range of moods and styles, drawing their inspiration from pop/folk and trance. Her signature pattern is her crystal-clear vocal harmonies, laced with richly textured background instrumentation.

Sally’s musical career started in 1968 when she founded the folk music duo The Sallyangie together with her brother Mike. The duo recorded their first and only album Children of the Sun in August 1968. The songs on it are mainly written by Oldfield and the album contained some of her brother’s early guitar work. In 1973 Sally contributed vocals on Mike Oldfield’s classic ‘Tubular Bells’.

Oldfield’s debut solo album, Water Bearer, was released in 1978. The track ‘Mirrors’ peaked at #19 in the UK Singles Chart, spanning 1978 and 1979, and remained in that chart for thirteen weeks. She has since released twelve solo albums.

Two of Sally’s songs ‘Mirrors’ and ‘Boulevard Songs’ have been synced in the 2018 film Pincushion, which received critical acclaim across the U.K.

In 2018 the deluxe edition of The Enchanted Way was released featuring re-mastered and re-worked versions of Sally Oldfield’s most popular songs.
