Gary Moat

Gary Moat is a drummer, songwriter and vocalist from Glasgow, Scotland.

Gary is most famous for occupying the drum stool for 80’s hard rock band Heavy Pettin. Formed in 1981 and taking their name from the 1976 UFO album No Heavy Petting, the band gigged heavily before singing with Polydor and releasing their debut, 1983’s Lettin’ Loose, with Queen guitarist Brian May as co-producer. Following the release of their debut the band played several high profile support slots, supporting Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss and Whitesnake. The band followed up their debut with 1985’s Rock Ain’t Dead, containing their most famous track ‘Sole Survivor’.

Between this and their last release ‘The Big Bang’ in 1989, the band entered a difficult period and eventually broke up shortly after.

Fast-forward to the present day, and Gary is firmly back in the spotlight and writing new music with his band, Burnt Out Wreck. Moving from the drums to leading the band as frontman, Burnt Out Wreck formed in 2016 and released their debut album, ‘Swallow’ in 2017, signing a deal with The Right Honourable Record Company via Cherry Red Records.

With a new album in the pipeline and a whole host of UK shows planned for 2019, the future looks exciting for Burnt Out Wreck!
